Giving to God

In the days of old, believers and unbelievers gave out of appreciation to God but giving to God now is like a business transaction. What gives?

Tithe is a requirement.

Offering is in appreciation to God for what he has done. People usually consider this as thanksgiving.

Seed offering

Galatians 6:7 King James Version (KJV)Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. What do you get when you sow grudgingly?

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV) Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Lazarus, come forth! How did he come out?

John 11:43-44 (NKJV) 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”  I was meditating on these two verses and i was asking the Holy Spirit “How did he come out? Who carried him out”?He had been dead for days and was bound hand and foot with graveclothes and dead people don’t move! This is what he told me, ” John 6:63 (NKJV) 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. The word that Jesus spoke is a spirit and when he spoke that word, it was a command that was directed towards Lazarus spirit . The body of Lazarus was dead but his spirit was not which was why Jesus said in John 11:11 that \Lazarus was sleeping. Lazarus believed In Jesus before he died, Jesus called him his friend. The spirit in the word brought him out! Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV) 11 “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it”. After Jesus gave the command, it was the spirit in the word that brought out Lazarus, it had to fulfill the command, the word accomplished the purpose for which it was sent and it succeeded by Lazarus coming out.

The words that we speak all have a spirit, it might be a positive or a negative spirit. What you let people speak into your life can either affect you positively or negatively and the results depend on the type of spirit following it. What you speak into someone’s life today or what people speak into your life might not happen the day they send the word. Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV) 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

Numbers 6:24-27

 “May the Lord bless me and keep me;
May the Lord make His face shine upon me,
And be gracious to me;
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon me,
And give me peace.”’

Are we capable of loving God unconditionally?

Before you answer that question i want you to think of the last time you thanked him just for who he is, the last time you cursed at the driver who had just cut you off in traffic, when was the last time you acknowledged God in situations concerning you, your family or friends. 1st Thessalonians 5:18 says that “In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”.

How long can one stay focused on God without drifting apart?

In this race, can i afford to be in line with God today and out tomorrow?

John 3:16 (NKJV)For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV) And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Isaiah 40:6 (NIV)  A voice says, “Cry out.”  And I said, “What shall I cry?” “All people are like grass, and all their faithfulness is like the flowers of the field.

Isaiah 64:6 (NKJV) But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousness are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.

Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Romans 8:35 (NKJV) Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

1 John 3:16 (NKJV) By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Ephesians 2:8 (NKJV) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Jeremiah 31:3 (NKJV) The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

Romans 5:8 (NKJV) But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
1 John 3:1 (NKJV)  Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Numbers 6:24-27
 “May the Lord bless me and keep me;
May the Lord make His face shine upon me,
And be gracious to me;

May the Lord lift up His countenance upon me,
And give me peace.”’

Constant and Consistent Prayer

Acts 12:5 (NKJV) Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant[a] prayer was offered to God for him by the church.  If you have any loved ones that are not saved, please keep them in your prayers. God is not deaf, sometimes he wants them to reach their lowest point so they can hear him knocking at the door of their heart and open the door for him to come in but they are gonna have to let him in.  Isaiah 59:1 (NKJV)  Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear. God does not force himself on people. He is love, gentle, loving, patience, long suffering, faithful, caring and he said in John 6:37 (NKJV) that “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out”.

God does not forget about you or your loved ones when you are down and out. In fact, he is right there with you. Sometimes in our busy life, we get so caught up in our situations and we forget that there is a God who is bigger than the situation.

Let’s not be faint in praying for our loved ones, The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Hell is real, the bible says so and personally i believe it. You might not know the effect of your prayers.

Numbers 6:24-27

 “May the Lord bless me and keep me;
May the Lord make His face shine upon me,
And be gracious to me;
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon me,
And give me peace.”’
in Jesus Name! Amen

Live your life to please God and God only

Your maker should be your number one (1) priority. If you put God first in your life, he also will put your first. James 4:8 (NKJV)Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. The fact that you are pleasing God or trying to please him does not mean that there won’t be temptations, but he gives you the grace to overcome them.

Do things to please God and not man; Acts 5:29 (NKJV) 29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men. Man cannot save you or take you to heaven, they (pastors, men and women of God, ministers, your boss, those in authority) cannot protect you neither can they speak on your behalf on that last day. Respect people but do not look up to them as though they were God.  I would rather have God be pleased with me than for man to be pleased with me because man can never or always understand me but God always and will always understand me. At the end of the day, it is what God says that matters and not what any man says about me or about my situation, he is the author and finisher of our faith. On the judgement day, nobody else is going to be judged in my place or on my behalf. We are all going to stand before him and give account of our lives; every man and woman for his or her self.

We cannot fake it till we make it in this race, God searches our heart as he says in Jeremiah 17:10 (NKJV) 10 I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings. So, work out your salvation with fear and trembling. 1 Peter 2: 13-17 (NKJV) 13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. 15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— 16 as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. 17 Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

Read: Galatians 1:10, 1 Thessalonians 2:4,

If you want man to appreciate you, then you have received your reward. This is not about you or me, it is all about JESUS. John 12:43 (NKJV) 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
 The bible warns against pleasing or trying to impress others.   Colossians 3:22-25 (NKJV) 22 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. 25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.

 Ephesians 5:8-10 (NKJV)For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spiritis in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.

 1 Peter 2:11-13 (NKJV) 11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul, 12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV) But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Isaiah 51:7(NKJV)  “Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, You people in whose heart is My law: Do not fear the reproach of men, Nor be afraid of their insults. Do not be afraid of what man will or can do to you for if God be for you who can be against you?Matthew 10:28 (NKJV)

28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.Romans 12:1-2 (NKJV)

12 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
 Romans 14:10-12(NKJV)
10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.[a] 11 For it is written: “As I live, says the Lord,
Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.”[b] 12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.

BELIEVE IN GOD, BELIEVE IN HIS WORD

Numbers 6:24-27

 “May the Lord bless me and keep me;
May the Lord make His face shine upon me,
And be gracious to me;
May the Lord lift up His countenance upon me,
And give me peace.”’

Search Your Hearts!!!

Psalm 4:4 (NIV)Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. It is good to examine our hearts and think back on how our day had been, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us anything that we are not aware of that we might have done and overlooked. Jeremiah 17: 9 (NKJV) “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? The Holy Spirit is the one who reveals our inner most secret and thoughts, the Holy Spirit knows what our spirit does because he is the spirit of God. He brings things back to our memory, the things we did not think mattered and he lets us know what was wrong and we have to ask for forgiveness and repent.

 Romans 3:23 (NKJV) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,  Nobody is without sin but i thank God that we are saved by grace through faith and it is not by works but it was a wonderful and a beautiful gift from our heavenly father who gives freely and lovingly.

 1 John 1:8-10 (NKJV) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. We cannot hide anything from God, he sees everything. The bible says in proverbs 15 that Death and Destruction lie open before the Lord, how much more do human hearts!

 Lamentations 3:40-41 (NKJV) 40 Let us search out and examine our ways, And turn back to the Lord; 41 Let us lift our hearts and hands To God in heaven. Before we go to sleep lets remember to thank our maker for everything, count our blessings, thank him for his goodness. Let us always remember that he is our father and our creator and he loves us. Let us learn to appreciate God more, thank him for who he is, his mercies are new every morning. He gives us the grace to see another day, his love is unconditional, he protects us, shields us, provides. He is always faithful and his faithfulness is not based on whether we are faithful or not. When others forsake us, our heavenly father is there for us. Just love on God for who he is because he is worthy and he deserves it.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV) 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Numbers 6:24-27
 “May the Lord bless me and keep me;
May the Lord make His face shine upon me,
And be gracious to me;

May the Lord lift up His countenance upon me,
And give me peace.”’
in Jesus Name! Amen

Disobedience removes you from the presence of God PT .2

1 Samuel 15: 2-3, 7-9, 11-30 (NKJV)

15 Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, how he ambushed him on the way when he came up from Egypt. Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and do not spare them. But kill both man and woman, infant and nursing child, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’”

And Saul attacked the Amalekites, from Havilah all the way to Shur, which is east of Egypt. He also took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. But Saul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep, the oxen, the fatlings, the lambs, and all that was good, and were unwilling to utterly destroy them. But everything despised and worthless, that they utterly destroyed.

When God gives an instruction, it is necessary to carry out the instruction exactly as told. God knows why he wants it done the way he chose. It is not our place to think for God. When we disobey, we are telling God that we know more than he does and we have to know that there are always consequences.

11 “I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments.” And it grieved Samuel, and he cried out to the Lord all night. 12 So when Samuel rose early in the morning to meet Saul, it was told Samuel, saying, “Saul went to Carmel, and indeed, he set up a monument for himself; and he has gone on around, passed by, and gone down to Gilgal.” 13 Then Samuel went to Saul, and Saul said to him, “Blessed are you of the Lord! I have performed the commandment of the Lord.”
14 But Samuel said, “What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?”
15 And Saul said, “They have brought them from the Amalekites; for the people spared the best of the sheep and the oxen, to sacrifice to the Lord your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.”
16 Then Samuel said to Saul, “Be quiet! And I will tell you what the Lord said to me last night.”
And he said to him, “Speak on.”
17 So Samuel said, “When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the Lord anoint you king over Israel? 18 Now the Lord sent you on a mission, and said, ‘Go, and utterly destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, and fight against them until they are consumed.’ 19 Why then did you not obey the voice of the Lord? Why did you swoop down on the spoil, and do evil in the sight of the Lord?”
20 And Saul said to Samuel, “But I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and gone on the mission on which the Lord sent me, and brought back Agag king of Amalek; I have utterly destroyed the Amalekites. 21 But the people took of the plunder, sheep and oxen, the best of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice to the Lord your God in Gilgal.”
22 So Samuel said:

“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
As in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed than the fat of rams.
23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft,
And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
He also has rejected you from being king.”
24 Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. 25 Now therefore, please pardon my sin, and return with me, that I may worship the Lord.”

26 But Samuel said to Saul, “I will not return with you, for you have rejected the word of the Lord, and the Lord has rejected you from being king over Israel.”
27 And as Samuel turned around to go away, Saul seized the edge of his robe, and it tore. 28 So Samuel said to him, “The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today, and has given it to a neighbor of yours, who is better than you. 29 And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor relent. For He is not a man, that He should relent.”
30 Then he said, “I have sinned; yet honor me now, please, before the elders of my people and before Israel, and return with me, that I may worship the Lord your God.”

As in the case of Saul, God said in verse 11 that Saul had turned back from following him, and had not performed his commandments. When we disobey our parents, elders, bosses, we know the consequences that comes with it. There are some disobedience that cannot be rectified because the deed is already done. Saul disobeyed God because man told him not to do what God instructed him to and he was afraid of them. By listening to his army, he put them before God. Peter and Paul asked in Acts 4:19

Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge” and  in Acts 5:29, Peter and the apostles said that “We ought to obey God rather than men”.In verse 12, Saul set up a monument for himself before he gave thanks to God. He gave himself glory and credit for the victory. In verse 30, he asked Samuel to honor him before the elders and before Israel; he cared a lot about what people thought of him instead of what God thought. If you disobey God’s instructions, you alone will bear the consequences. When what people think starts to affect or determine our relationship with God, we’ve got a major problem with God because God does not want any other person or thing before him. When things don’t work out right, we turn to him so we might as well just put him first and he will handle every other thing behind. You cannot let somebody else or something dictate how you please God or serve him. Our God is a Jealous God. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Matt. 10:28 says “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”.
The disobedience of Saul led to him being replaced as king over Israel and it was a big lose.

Numbers 6:24-27
 “May the Lord bless me and keep me;
May the Lord make His face shine upon me,
And be gracious to me;

May the Lord lift up His countenance upon me,
And give me peace.”’
in Jesus Name! Amen
